The central, primary ministry focus for every Christian, regardless of any other calling that they may have on their life is to first minister to the Lord. This is clearly stated in Isaiah 43:21, "This people have I formed for myself, that they show forth my praises." All other ministry flows out from your ministry to the Lord. We believe the foundation of a dance ministry is worship which brings the power and presence of God down to us. It is God-centered, non man-centered or self-centered. Many in the Church are becoming weary because we are so busy with our daily projects and programs. In the midst of our hustle and bustle, running here and there, it is sometimes difficult to remember that the Christian life is meant to be one of celebration. Yes, it is a life of sacrifice, of giving, of serving, of being poured out, but it is also a life of celebration and rejoicing! We celebrate our Messiah, King Jesus! The best examples of God's instructions concerning praise and worship can be found in the Book of Psalms. For example, "Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song, and His praise in the congregation of the saints. Let Israel rejoice in Him that made him: Let the children of Zion be joyful in their praises until Him with timbrel and harp. For the Lord takes pleasure in His people. He will beautify the meek with salvation." (Psalm 149:1-4) But Psalmic praise can be found throughout both the Old and New Testaments as God's ordained way to worship Him. Drama and dance are not merely physical activities-they are expressions of worship that can touch the body, reach into the soul and penetrate the spirit. The heart of the dance is the Lord. We dance as an expression of our love for Him. God created us as beings having three parts: Spirit, Soul, and Body. He wants us to praise Him, worship Him and love Him using all three. (I Cor. 6:19-20) Our VISION in the Interpretive Dance Ministry is to enable each participant on the team to release, in his/her own way, the creativity given to him/her by the Lord in order to bring honor and glory to His Great Name! If the ministry of drama and dance springs forth from the River of Life within each of us, it will flow out from us, blessing others and ministering the life of the Lord Jesus. (John 7:38) |
